Now maybe you better not have too much of the red, or maybe have an extra jug or two, as Wordpress 2.9.1 is coming quickly. or so the rumor goes, as they found a glitch in the cron job, that updates something or other.

It is an interesting read though, as the guy thinks we shouldn't be bitching about the flow of upgrades, because it was tested, but not with so many as a stable release does.

I think it is a conspiracy by the geeks to make us non geeks pay for all the teasing we gave them in school.

now don't be spreading rumors like that - it's bound to get you a DDOS on your server for months to come!

Is it really any surprise at this point that there's a patch to the patch? Hence, I'm already giving things at least a few days with each update before I consider doing the update. Give things time to shake out and see if the next update is about to hit if they messed something up.

You know I'm really begging to wonder with these blogs if you wouldn't be better off just updating every 6 months or so just to keep on top of things and give WP your finger to all these ridiculous updates !

y'all are forgetting a few month's ago there was a hole where someone was able to incert code into the DB, I knew a couple of people that got hit because they didn't upgrade.

I like the upgrades, the anticipation of the next upgrade serves as great motivation to push through these otherwise dark and sullen times. I plan on inviting friends and family over for the 2.9.1 upgrade, so they may share in the joy...

that one would fall in the category of major security update. I have not taken time to look at what the 2.9 update specifically addresses, but not heard anything about security patches yet

if that's seriously the biggest thing it does, then I'm in no rush at all. Have to find time to check the updates list to see what they say it's doing for us.

I don't know anymore, given that usually (in the past) a point one version was to correct minor bugs found in the stable release. Of course that was rather expected, given that the beta version would be out for a few weeks, then a couple of release candidates would be out for about 2 weeks before the stable release.

Now, the beta came out, and the release candidate came out, and in about 2 weeks or less, the stable release. It is just impossible for testors to put the program through its paces in that short of a time, which is why the verson one, then two, then three etc. seem to keep coming out.

If they would not RUSH, then we'd be back to a proper schedule of updates, instead of it seeming like there is a security issue every week.

It would also give a certain furry one an opportunity to actually upgrade something, other than his red wine shopping list
