Geez, I thought you were the techo geek here abouts
I hate when that happens, but I go to the plugin author site, or the wordpress plugin codex and download the zip to my hdd, then unzip and ftp into my plugin directory. I deactivate it first, then delete it, then upload the new package, then re-activate it. 9 out of 10 times that does the trick, and if it never updates, well i always have a copy on my hdd.
Course if it never updates, eventually it becomes a huge security issue and compatability one too.
a guy just can't win in this industry
