Wordpress 3.0 is being rolled out now, as I type this so Mister time to get your pudgy fingers out of the bottle of red and start thinking about perhaps upgrading from 1.2 to version 2.0

There are supposed to be some major changes in how things are done in Wordpress 3.0 so, MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP YOUR BLOG BEFORE UPGRADING!

Actually it will be interesting to see IF any quick fixes will be needed. This time around, they seemed to not have rushed it, having the BETA version out for more than 3 days like last time, and the RC version didn't go from RC1 to Stable this time around either. Nor was it out only for 3 days like last upgrade. In fact, they released 2 additional Release Candidates for testing.

Given that 3.0 was due to release beginning of May, and now its the 17th of June, seems like MAYBE they are listening to the whines & complaints about rushing things.

Noticed that this time around, the Plugins were updated to being 3.0 compatible, BEFORE the release as well, which should, hopefully, make things go smoother.

well V3 has been a long time coming and you would ASSUME testing has been fully done, but you know what these geeks are like Ian

I think WP should add this before people upgrade

gotta wonder what the uptake will be on v3. So far, looks like Fantastico and Installatron don't have it setup yet. Seems they are not in a rush

and I know some other webmasters that are having a real pain with plug ins that no longer work .........me going to sit back and let the dust settle

From what I understand, any upgrades that come out from fantastico is up to the host to add, to check for... and which is why some hosts have it working within hours of an upgrade, others weeks later.

Plugin Authors & Theme ones are a strange breed. Very erratic.

no doubt there - working on some installations this weekend and sticking to 2.9.2 with new blogs

yeah but lets be honest Ian how many people stick with the basic WP themes - so all those webmasters will / could be screwed if they update..........not clever

themes and plug-ins are the challenging areas to be sure. Hell... just tried to update some new blog installs with plug-ins that I've used and liked... they have not been updated in a while and a couple are having problems unpacking and installing... Oh well, guess I didn't need those anyway...
