so who's updated to Version 3.0 yet? I'm still holding off as I'm sure 3.1 will be out soon to fix bugs

Me.. got 'em all updated and they have been just fine. So far only one plugin isn't compatible and the rest just hum along nicely.

I'm having version control issues between hosts right now. My manually updated installs are now on 3 and all seems fine. One host using Installatron doesn't have 3 available just yet. I think they are waiting to see how it goes and when the first round of patches will be available...

Usually it is simply that they are too blasted lazy to go dig up the update, have it ready for use, and do it. Fantastico for example has the updates ready to go, yet hosts that use it can take several weeks or longer to have it available for their customers.

this particular host uses Installatron, that they say is updated daily via a remote process controlled by Installatron. Supposedly, when Installatron releases a new version, it's pushed out to all hosts when ready, then users can install when ready.

I've been using it on a couple site now and it seems to work good. I haven't had any security issues, but I do take standard precautions like monitoring the site, making sure the passwords are strong, and fixing any of the standard holes, but overall have found it good.

Wordpress 3 would be MORE secure than any previous version.

That said, the sites I'm using it on are NOT high traffic and are not targets (SexToyFantastic.com is a custom Wordpress 3 site I'm slowly building out).

The Ultimate Wordpress Security Guide qeqnes | Designing. jQuery, Ajax, PHP, MySQL and Templates

This is a guide to securing Wordpress installs. It's pretty thorough and easy to follow.

Peace out, good luck on your site!!!

The thing with Wordpress is that with every new version it brings on some new features and security measures that allow you to just start writing/promoting etc your blog. And, of course, use a damn long password!
