A list of Plugins for Wordpress Users
Keep in mind, some of these Plugins may actually conflict with each other. Like isn’t that typical of things?
I have tried, where possible, to give a brief description of what the plugin is. In addition, a link to the Wordpress Plugin Repository is included, and if possible, one to the actual plugin page from the author.
Should mention, it is always better to actually download the plugin from Wordpress, rather than elsewhere. Not that it is any safer, or risk free, but usually it does mean it has been tested, somewhat, though not always. Not everyone can get their plugin listed, so if it is there, it is some small sign of being trustable.
Now below is the list:
Next Generation GalleryThis is really one of my favourite plugins, for displaying images in a blog. I can choose to offer a slide show, can add some alt text to each image, along with a title description. In addition, it does a nice job of resizing the images, and keeps them all in a simple directory, that is configurable. Plus, you can set up albums for a sponsor, to include many individual galleries.
It is very robust, but does have a flaw. You can’t link individual pictures or galleries, directly to the sponsor. Still it has nice look to it, adds pictures super easy, and keeps them in a good order, if that helps.

Article TemplatesNow this is one that lets you actually generate a template, for your blog. It uses the actual theme layout, but lets you put in various repetitive html portions, so you could have a video review template, where a click here or watch now graphic can be already in place.
It is good to use, to set up templates for say different sponsors, so their banner is always there, pre coded too, which makes your blog entries a lot faster. I mean if the link is already there, along with graphics, all you need to do is add the internal text.

AdRotateNot one I use, but it has some interesting features. Supposed to allow you to track banners, to place them in your posts, and rotate them. Interesting for sites doing a lot of advertising of various sponsors, or for sponsors who maybe have a lot of different banners.

StatsPress ReloadedA rather nice statistical program that I actually use. It does give you a unique visitor detail, some info on referrals, on search terms used, and is well, nice to have. I am not impressed by some of the info, or its ability to be configured to my tastes, but for an out of the box stat program, a good one.

Theme Test DriveA way to preview your theme, before using it. Now WP 2.7 has that built in, but this plugin is a bit more robust, as it doesn’t just use a half page. Plus as admin, you can access the entire site, as it would appear using a particular theme.

Admin ExtendedA way to do some quick edit on your posts. From adding tags, to changing the publish status or even date. I don’t really use it anymore, though am tempted. It did take them Pangeaile to make this plugin 2.7 compatible, which makes me wonder, how quick they’ll be when 2.8 comes out shortly.

WassupAnother stat program, that isn’t bad, but not super or great. It doesn’t give you unique, but does give some good info. Again, not really able to customize it like I would like. Do use it, but am not planning to add it to any new blogs.

All in One Adsense and YPNHelps manage your adsense ads and yahoo ads and I think one other or more. Not one I currently use, or have activated on a couple of my mainstream blogs, but one that appears interesting.

Awesome News AnnouncementsUsed it for Pangeaile, but no more. It places an announcement at the start of your blog post page, which you can change as well as include HTML links. Not bad, but with WP 2.7 you can sticky posts if you want, which rather depreciates the value of this plugin, imho.

WP –LinkChangerDon’t use it, but it supposedly will allow you to change the affiliate links, or control how they are displayed. In short, a masking plugin for affiliate links

Google XML Sitemap GeneratorFor those who want to automatically have an XML sitemap, that will report changes to Google, Yahoo, and one other SE. Not bad, but it is does have a tendency to not work and I no longer use it. Too picky, and not sure if I like Google being notified this way.

Slayer’s Ad IntegrationI use this one, though not to its fullest potential, least I don’t think so, just haven’t had the time to play with it. It sets up custom ads for insertion into a post. You can do a template, then simply add the ‘slayer ad code’ into your post, where ever you want it to appear, I think. Don’t quote me on that part. Does have a rather good layout and isn’t too hard to use.

WP Google AnalyticsInsert the needed code to your blog, so you can keep track of all the stats, using Google Analytics. Not too sure how it works, have it on one of mine, but it doesn’t really seem to work that well.

Ultimate Google AnalyticsAnother one, that supposedly adds the code to your blog theme, so you can track it with Google Analytics. Have it, but not really used it much, or checked it much. One of the pitfalls of having way too many blogs, you find plugins, use them, but don’t get to check as often as you’d like.

Reveal Ids for WP AdminWhy they hid it, I don’t know, but many themes require the category ID, not the name, in order to properly work. This plugin will reveal those ID numbers in your admin, so you can easily pick which category to use. I use it for several of my themes.

Link HopperAnother of those that help mask the affiliate link, by creating a jump point. It is useful too, in having one place to change out a sponsor code, if you decide to drop them, or find they are shaving, or whatever. Am testing it out on a blog, but like everything I do these days, it’s taking some time to do.

InsightsA way to add some content within your posts, supposedly. I don’t use it, yet. It will supposedly check wiki and other sources for relevant content, to insert at points you designate.

SEO Smart LinksLets you set up select keywords, so that when you use them in a post, they will be automatically linked to the sponsor or page you want those words to link to. For example, using word ‘condoms’ could link to a product page selling condoms, a definition page, and so on. I do use it, and find it okay. Does save thinking and having to go back to add common links.

WP CumulusFlash word cloud for use in the sidebar. I use it on a blog, and it is rather nice. Not for every theme though, and certainly not for Tigger or those who have a phobia about Flash.

Comment LicenseJust who owns a comment left on your blog? Can you legally quote it, use it elsewhere? This plugin lets you set the terms for a person leaving a comment, so that it becomes yours to use, and that they have given you permission. Gotta be careful these days.

Yet Another PhotoblogThis is a rather nice image program, for those running a photo blog only. Has its own community of crazies, and some themes specially designed for use of this plugin.

Shutter ReloadedA nice image program, that uses thickbox effects on images, similar to Next Generation Gallery. More for use with single images, and does have an exclude feature, so you can use other photo plugins with this one. Had used it, but not recently. It wasn’t upgraded fast enough, and the instructions were a bit, well hard to comprehend.

TippyNow this little plugin, gives you a screen tip, or tooltip, that is highly configurable. It does take html in it, and isn’t all that hard to use. Great for creating info boxes or quick facts or definitions.
