I`m in the middle of moving a blog to a new server but noted some errors in the wp config file
however the blog runned fine, nevertheless i changed the information in the wpconfig file to how it`s supposed to be. Now i get some strange code on top of all the pages on the blog

When i change everything in the wp config file back to how it was it does not work at all?

The blog is not yet moved to the new server

I presume you did a back up first ? if so do a fresh inst of WP followed by theme - then pull the back up in

I got a back up

But the problem lies in two different wp config files
the old one was working fine but had the wrong information?
the new one is not working fine see link but hast the right information?
Place the old one back and it`s not working at all?

have you tried a re install of WP - I would have thought this would over write anything thats held on the server then just tell it the DB to link with

but TBH i've never had problems with config files

Hmm

I think i will wait for a reinstall when everything is moved to the new server since the domain transfer is all ready asked for

TBH its what I would do - plus its about time you updated your blog from version 2.41

My sysadmin took a look and it`s resolved. Now fingers crossed it will all work on the new server since the guy who took the site off my hands never worked with wp before let alone did a transfer from one server to another

Glad it is now fixed.

For future reference, there is one way to do this, that has worked for me, but may not for anyone else, cuz I was actually sober at the time

At the new server, do a blank and full install of wordpress.
Copy your wp-uploads folder from wp-content to the new server
Copy your wo-images folder from wp-functions to the new server
Then in the OLD install, go to admin and use the 'export' feature under tools
choose export to a wordpress
Then in the NEW install, go to admin > tools > import
Import from your hdd, where you saved the export xml file.

All your posts should be then migrated, the images showing.
