Hay guys,
I just set up a site to host all the erotic stories I write, (hopefully make some money as well). At the moment its a conventional web page but I was wondering if running it as a blog, with all the archiving and headings and navigation done for me, would be better from a SEO perspective.

its true to say G does like blogs - but you then have to put up with updating and all the other security issues

I would only go the blog route if your going to regularly add new content and would also have the comments off as it will just attract spam

Well I do add a new story every week to try and keep people coming back and gradually grow the site,is that often enough, should I use word press then?

What about offering RSS?

one a week is fine - I work towards updating my blogs twice a week but I know some that look at daily

But before you jump into a blog read some of the threads here on SEO as you are making some mistakes within your current site and you mite as well start your blog off on the right footing

I would say if your a newbie without programming experense BLOGs are the best way to go. If you into computer a web site defantly has it advantages. However many time a blog will work for most sites and is a easy way to go.

I agree newbie webmasters are better going down the blog route, but they still need to understand the basics if they want to turn a blog into making cash

Funny, how things have changed. Building a website today is simply point and click, or so everyone seems to be thinking. Truth is, even blogs aren't exactly simple.

You still need to know some basics, like html and css, to tweak and refine your themes, or to simply do a good post. Knowing html for example, to add to your excerpts, so that they are clickable, or stand out.

Knowing some css, to find out just why the damn background color is brown when you want it red, or the links should be black instead of white on white.

Yep, just point and click and watch the cash roll in

Personally, I'd go with both. Using a static web site, for the galleries that just never really show up well in blogs, mainly due to the size constraint of the posting area. Blogs are a tool, to accentuate the main site, in my view. But hell what do I know, I still think

is a real person and not a robot

I agree. The bottom line is if you really want to learn to make money online. Understanding web sites as well as blog is going to be required.

You would not expect a lawler to be able to win cases without going to law school. I do not know what makes some people thing they can become rich online, overnight, and not know how to build a simple web site.

Learn your trade is going to be needed, even if you end up contracting most of the work out as most successfull marketers do.

Learning how to turn this hard work into cash is even more inportant. But first steps are going to be required.

Blogs were in favor on Google some time ago- but not now- forget about them now- time for real sites
its easierto make a blog, but sites are more weigh for Google

one thing which i forgot- blogs are much better with indexing- way much better- to compare to sites, but as i said before sites have value

I disagree

All of my blogs are ranking for the keywords I'm after - The problem is some webmasters just think its a case of throwing some crap up with RSS feeds and zero content and believe just because its a blog it will rank - those won't - but if you add content, bulid links & keep a close eye on the quality it will rank

I'm not saying blogs are always going to work out - but a lot of reasons they do fail is down to webmasters, which is the same for any type of website

I agree that G wants sites of value - but that can either be blogs or sites and for a newbie webmasters blogs are an easier way to start out - "IF" they take the time to learn and realize that just because they have a blog its not a guarantee of rankings

for me its the same thing for stories that is okay to put it in a blog but its okay in website also but just to make sure your website is in CMS format so you can easily out you post.
