For anybody who has been through any decent sized earthquake, just the idea of the recent ones are pretty friggn scary. I've been through a few 5.x quakes that were freaky, including one slow roller that lasted about 30 seconds. I was also in the Bay Area when the Loma Perata quake hit - that was soooooo not fun...
Just the thought of a quake that big lasting for 3 minutes is mind blowing to me. Now... here is something else rather mind blowing... An entire city in Chile that was moved 10 FEET to the West?!

I was talking with my son over the weekend after the quake hit Turkey and he was wondering why all the quakes lately. I asked him what's one of the first things he does when he gets up in the morning - STRETCH! Well... it's like the Earth needs a bit of a stretch lately and the plates are shifting all at once. Geeze, you get one plate shifting that much in one place, somethings got to give someplace else!
