We all know the answer to making money online is getting traffic but this nut is also the hardest to crack, after all we can outsource design and content but unless you are going to spend a lot of money getting an
SEO expert is expensive so it's something you really need to understand, especially if you're looking at a long term career on the internet
This is an overview on the basic elements of
SEO and further in-depth threads will look at detailed subjects of
SEO
One thing to consider is, when looking at
SEO is it's not something that can quickly be done after the site is built and having a good grounding is extremely important, not unless you want to have a lot of additional work!
There are two main considerations with
SEO
but above all one word is the buzz word within
SEO thats "Quality" thats quality content (text) and links
Let's first look at onsite optimisation, this is everything that’s on YOUR site, but an important consideration is keyword spamming and over optimisation as both will cause your site to get some type of penalty or worst case a ban!
The rule of thumb, if it reads fine you're ok, if you keep reading the same word over and over again you have a problem!
You need to work out how many basic pages are going to be within the site and the keywords you’ll be building these pages around.
If you are new to a genre then it maybe a good idea to write down the keyword terms you’ll want to rank for and there are a few keyword tools on the market where you can do this research either for free, like the Google tool, or others like Wordtracker that will provide a more detailed report, but you will have to pay.
Once you have your keyword list consider your page names and working these keywords into each page name i.e sampleurl.com/free-teen-porn.html. Just a quick note - in the past it was a good idea to separate keywords within page names by using either underscore or dash as SEs couldn’t see separate keywords if they weren't separated in some way, but that’s no longer the case, however I still use a dash as it helps the surfer plus “could” increase clicked traffic from the serps when surfers are looking at the results pages.
We will use the term Free Teen Porn as our example keyword page:
With page name set up you need to consider the page title – working between 6-8 words getting your main keyword in is the idea so “Teen Sex Pictures Free Nude Girls Sexy Teens - this title gets your main keyword in and supports the page name (i.e sampleurl.com/free-teen-porn.html)
Note. Don’t use the URL within this as it’s a waste of a good
SEO resource so example “Teen Sex Pictures from SampleURL.com would be a waste
Page Description, this offers NO
SEO benefit at all as all SEs ignore the content within it, but it is used within the serps so putting up a description that will make someone want to click your site is a good idea
Meta Keywords – pointless, waste of space/time
Those are the main meta tags for
SEO, all others that you see on sites are pointless such as meta revisit/subject/abstract/topic/owner plus loads of other are pointless
Next onto page content
Placing a GOOD Heading (H1) is vital but this doesn’t mean a copy of the page title and you are better off using this for secondary keywords for the page, the title was “Teen Sex Pictures Free Nude Girls, Sexy Teens” a good heading would be “ Free Teenagers porn photos Teens fucking”
Main body of text – its pointless just having one sentence as you will never be able to get your keywords onto that page without it looking spammy and over stuffed, so try working towards a minim of 300 words, with max 600 words (any more than 600 and you're wasting content which is better for then creating another page)
Within this text you can sensibly add four main keywords and I would try for the second sentence to get the full keyword in (free teen porn) but keep in mind that you don’t over stuff the page, if it reads spammy it is spammy!
When adding images save them as keyword names as well so image 1 = teen.jpg and so on, using an alt tag can also help with image searching as well that can attack a good traffic flow.
When the page is finished do a spell check but also allow for common miss-spellings as well as this also will attract traffic – not forgetting to add a link on the bottom of the page to your site map.
Once the page is finished upload and move onto the next keyword term, until the site is finished!!
This is the basics of
SEO onsite and with the importance of good keyword loaded page names you can see why
SEO is not something you can do as an after thought.
Next I'll look at Off site optimisation
