Have not looked at how AEBN is doing this, but in general, it works like this: You add a name for your campaign and then create links with the campaign name in them. Then, in the stats, you'll see those hits from that campaign.
It's similar to referral tracking, sometimes better, and sometimes not as good. With referral tracking you just get the page the hit came from. But with campaign tracking, you can group pages/sites in the way you want, as they're treated as a single unit.
For a small blog, you could create a campaign for the whole blog. But if your blog is big, you might want to know which pages are generating the hits, so you'll need to create a campaign for each one of them.
