I've been waiting for Bill to open his wallet and spend some cash on getting punters to use Bing and hopefully this will do it

Microsoft is to launch a multimillion-pound TV ad campaign for its search engine Bing, as part of a major marketing push designed to challenge Google's dominance of the UK search market, MediaGuardian.co.uk can reveal.

The campaign to promote Bing, the so-called "decision engine" that Microsoft is backing with $2bn, begins with a series of TV ads this week.

"This is a big moment – we are taking out our slingshots and taking on Goliath," said the managing director and vice-president of consumer and online at Microsoft UK, Ashley Highfield, adding that he believed Bing met a real desire from both consumers and advertisers.

but considering G has 90% of the Uk search market they have got one hell of a battle..........but I personally think Bing offers much better results than G and it only takes a few to start seeing this

Much as I prefer Bing I find that I have to make a positive decision not to type Google whenever I search, as it has become so ingrained.

The battle is to make people use "bing" as a generic term for searching instead of "google" but with the media coverage G gets even with Bings advertising budget its going to be hard going -

or to get people to change their default SE in their browsers. That would cover the people like me who hardly ever go to the actual site and just use the search from the browser toolbar.

Same thing i`m used to use Google and even got it as default page in all my browsers.
And still most of my traffic comes from Google not from Bing

that's going to be one of the rough parts - how many people have G set as their default page in their browsers? Try and get them to change that?!

People who buy new computers get them with windows and Bing as default page together with this adcampaign and his support people may actually want to stick with it.

You know Windows users it`s hard for them to find the hidden options
