I recently found out that a large electronics company is putting out a new product that has the same name as an older and dormant domain name of mine. The product name will actually be different in certain countries, so it's not like iPhone or something that's universal. Still, I'm interested in selling the domain because it's not doing anything for me. It might fetch a couple hundred or so.

Anyone have any experience with domain auctions, or is it just easier to try to work out a deal with the buyer?

haha yeah that price tag is high..that site has been forsale for a very very long time now....I would say its been for sale for 3+years if I remember correctly

Turns out I had the winning lottery numbers, but it was for last week's game. The company ended up going with a different (but very close) product name for the bulk of their markets. It's still possible I could sell it to someone wanting to do typo marketing. I'm not into that myself.

The excitement was fun while it lasted.
