Weve completed our site and now added a directory too..
Thinking toward the future were thinking about adding a forum. It would be for models studios, and webmasters.
-How much time do you guys devote to your forums?
-Do you feel its worth your time?
We would use vbulletin,
-How do I avoid anoying spam?
-What would you reccomend for plugins to help with automation to reduce work time?
And any other suggestions would be great!

I wouldn't add a forum unless you have the traffic as a dead forum will do nothing for you

Forums can take up as much or as little time as you want - but catching the spammers is one reason you have to keep one eye open all the time

You can set up safe guards and blocks to restrict spam but sometimes as fast as these blocks go live another group will come along - so a forum is always something you have to watch over

Do you feel its worth time?

no - the few sponsors forums I've seen have a very low postings and gives the impression no one uses them

Thanks Tig.. i was gathering it was quite a bit of work unless your on the same timezone I am it seems like that coffee machine works overtime for this forum lol.

I wouldn't say it takes a lot of work once everything is in place, but as a sponsor will it really offer value to your site? - gets back to will it be used? and if not it will make your site look dead

just one other note - looked at your directory

the banner links at the top look pretty naff - when doing these you need to make sure the text is anti-alias smooth to stop it looking jaggedy - also bold italics look naff as they have the same look
