So now that it's a new year it's a good time to step back and see what you need to do for your business. I have some steps and plans I'm going to make. Some of them are:

1. Outsource more of my writing. I spend 80% of my time just making new blog post for my sites. That simply keeps me in the same spot. I need to go forward, and to do that I need others doing my writing. You should outsource what others can do for you and takes the most time. For me that is writing.

2. Going to make a shemale dating site. Those seem real hot right now, as Tigger knows.

3. Going to make 6 more niche adult sites. Niche sites do well, even when others are saying porn makes no money anymore. With small niche sites you get the SE traffic without much work. Add top list and link swaps and it's a sure thing to make sales.

4. Add much more leather apparel in my retail leather site. Then list all my products on places like shopzilla, nextag and so on. If I do it right I could make a ton on that site alone. I just need to get them listed where people can see them.

5. Make a few more mainstream niche sites. I have one sponsor that gets 1 sale to every 5 clicks, damn good. But they are few and far between. I need to focus on the few that do great and promote them more.

6. Build up my tourist site. That baby is just about ready to make me lots with bought ads and links. Need to make more article about local stuff.

So for me it's all about narrow niches and outsourcing writing work. Build more sites in different niches, spread out and work smarter. What's your plans??

Well, I thought I'd grab a .xxx, throw up a few sponsor pics and some flash animations - no need for any descriptive text, the punters only want to see pics anyway - make number one on Google by next week and retire by Vallentine's

Seriously, much the same as I'm doing now, only more of it, I hope - putting up more small niche sites, both mainstream and adult, and letting them grow over time. Some that I did a few months ago are starting to get some organic traffic, and I expect that trend to continue - at least, I hope so! More conversions would be nice, though, so I'll probably be looking at the way I structure blog posts to see if I can encourage that.

I'll also be looking at adding a mix of sponsors to my webcam blogs, maybe some contacts other than AFF (any suggestions welcome!). In a slightly different direction, I'm kicking around the idea of writing stuff for publication via Kindle. No idea how that might work out yet, but I have this vague notion of building niche sites to bring interested readers / buyers, and maybe cross-promote other related products.

Another thing that really needs thinking about is mobile friendly versions of sites, though I haven't really gone into that in any depth at all yet. And, on a related but even less thought through note, the possibility of mobile apps to drive traffic, either directly to sponsors or to my sites. I could see how such a thing, if tightly coupled to a niche, might be fairly effective, and things like JQuery Mobile and Phonegap look like they might ease the pain of re-writing the thing for every phone under the sun. Then again, I'm no javascript expert, and the time required to get up to speed might be prohibitive.

Overall, I'm fairly optimistic about the coming year, despite the state of the economy on this side of the pond. It's just a matter of sorting out priorities, and where best to spend the time. Niches definitely make a lot of sense to me, and quite a bit of time is going to have to go into finding them, I expect. Other than that, chaos as usual

if it works don't fix it

although I'm going to do something to try and build my vod income back up, if possible. For the last 12 months other than the odd page I've not really done anything with vod and whilst people will say why bother when punters can download for FREE some people are still buying porn as my figures have held pretty steady all year and it will never pay the mortgage it still pays a lot towards life - so the plan is about getting more review pages into themed contacts sites

Within the contacts genre I'm always putting niche sites up to both generate traffic themselves and also offer quality links into a couple of my strong traffic sites that rank very well for more generic swingers/contacts terms - but these niche sites help a lot with deep links into themed pages - normally I put a new site a month live just for this reason

Last year I had an 18% increase in income and it would be nice to see a similar increase, so finger crossed and good luck to everyone in 2012 ...

have you tried fiverr Bill? you may have to hunt around for people that can write your content but I've been using it for a while and for $5 pretty cheap for content

Its the key to success Bill and if you work hard you will succeed, often the webmasters I see saying they are not making money are the ones that think an hour a month and just posting crap blogs with photos is all thats needed - they are clueless about whats really needed to make a good online income

I think we've hit bottom with a fucking bang if your making money now so long as carry on I don't see any reason why it will change.

I don't know about completely on the bottom, yet, but I agree that anything that's still working at this point will keep working barring total breakdown. Course, if it can be made to work better, then that's all to the good, and that's something I need to focus on, I think. Last time I did cams, I think conversions were around 1:6-800 click throughs, now I'm getting something 1:1200. Not dire, I think, but could be better.

if the media shut the fuck up people may start having confidence to start spending again - its a crazy circle right now and somewhere it has to break

Cams is something I need to work on as I've got some banners on a few high traffic contact sites and other than posting genre specific banners I've put zero effort into pushing it, in fact I've not even looked at my stats for a month and I've got $400 on the way - must really put more work into that

I've tried fivver before and did not like what I got. I actually already have a few good writers I trust. I just will use them more now.

for run of the mill content its OK - but if your targeting a niche market such as yours it maybe harder to find writers there - the few I'm using are only offering more general contacts / swingers stories and I'm only buying about 10/20 a month so not really any volume amount

Not going to happen, though - they make their money on bad news, the worse it is, the better they like it.

I plan to do more travel writing and stock photography and to gradually try to wean myself off the day job. Not completely, just cut my hours down so I can spend a bit more time doing other things.

Porn has always been more of a part time thing for me but I have let it slide a bit over the last 12 months. On that front I need to revamp Seymour a bit and get him some new stories. That means I have to get my ass out from behind this computer and get into some mischief.

I toyed with the idea of shooting some while back, it went well. Perhaps I'll explore that idea a bit further

My other sites are also looking rather tired and in need of tarting up. The ladyboy site I maintain for another photog has held steady-ish and has great member loyalty but it really should be doing better.

The public loves bad news. Just like reality TV, the worse it is the more they lap it up. But the only news item they actually remember is the one where the crocodile steals the park wardens lawn mower.

My gf once asked me why my site didnt look the same on her phone as it did on the computer. I told her its because its mobile friendly and she asked what's the point of that because if all she had to do to view my non mobile site on her phone was scroll left or right, why bother make it "mobile friendly".

Now I know one person does not make very good market research but I gotta wonder just how many people are like her and dont mind scrolling to see a site the same way that it looks on their computers. Maybe I'll do a poll on my blog and ask peoples opinions.

And why create a mobile app when a website is essentially the exact same thing just with a less cool name? I think people get carried away with "apps" or maybe they just like saying the word "apps". Why anyone would spend $2 for a porn app when they can get free images on google is beyond me. But then again why anyone would spend $600 on a ipad is beyond me but people still do it in droves so what the hell do i know.

I don't use a mobile to surf, heck I'm 247 parked at my desk so why would I - But the people I know that use mobiles to surfer except the limits a small screen has with scroll bars and having to enlarge sections of pages.

Do we really need to offer mobile users anything else if they are happy with what they have already

I dislike mobile sites myself, if I get used to the layout of a site then I don't want it changed around just because I'm on my phone.

For the iphone you can get browsers that allow you to change the user agent to prevent servers sending you to mobile sites. I presume they are available for Blackberry and Android as well
