The plams remind me they are living thing, not 'it'. They will sick, ill, or even die.

It is a resort, he's just the grounds keeper, he's got everybody here convinced he owns the joint simply by posting pics.

Very sorry to hear this, because that IS a nice tree! Got any more details on what's killing it, maybe an article somewhere?

theres loads of articles as it nearly killed all the coconut palms in southern Asia and Melanesia.

its a Weevil bug thats basically eats into the palms and spreads like crazy.......all you can do is treat the palm and hope but its changing the face of Spain as they are saying most of the palms are infected in some way

update

I think I maybe winning the battle with the bugs

I just had the palm trimmed today and you can see now the middle where the bugs were eating the new growth. Hopefully the next load of new growth will be fine but as my neighbours tree is now infected its going to be ongoing least until Spain has an all clear

Perhaps now you could come help me with the squirrels, I'm already in battle with those little c*^k suckers digging into my shit.

So what did you do, feed the tree your viagra? Too bad you can't get stern and stout like that

we don't have squirrels here just a rodent thats between a rat & a mouse but when I was living in the UK the bloody squirrels drove me mad and I even bought a small air riffle but i could never hit the fuckers

Trust me if killing these bugs depended on viagra I'd be more than up for shoving some pills into it ........but fingers crossed its looking a hell of lot better than many others and the palm guy whilst he couldn't speak english gave me the thumbs up when i showed him how i was treating it........or was it a finger

Your palm looks way healthier!

But if all your neighbors are infected it seems you could easily get it back

Be careful with all that insecticide sounds as if it could infect you.

its going to be ongoing now ...most of Spain is least along the South and its even got into Southern France now as well.

bottom line if you have a palm like mine every 4 weeks it will need treating if you want to hold onto it

treating the palm isn't too bad as I bought a bloody great pump and pump it right into the middle ..but hopefully I've stopped it, now just need to keep going every month

Glad it looks like you can save your palm. Those buggers look hard to kill. I think we have a version of those bugs here in Florida.

the local garden center had one in a sealed plastic box for 3 mths with no food or water before it died ...They originated from egypt and then nearly killed all the coconut palms but there hard winters killed them off...but its really quite mild here hence why they are breading like crazy ....but all you can do is try

I'd watch your palm going by the snout on it - runaway runaway!
