fuck, shit and bollocks

Had to get someone out to look at my palm as I had a feeling it was infected by something thats killing palms and right now its VERY bad in this region of Spain - I've been spraying it but apparently not enough as I was treating it 10 gallons and should have been using 40 gallons due to the size

I've not got a photo but heres one thats been infected

another slightly worse

I've not got a recent photo of mine but I'll take one tomorrow and I've started my battle

fuck and shit, what a crap day .................

the specialist that came out "seems" to think we stand a chance and I'm now having to soak the palm with the insecticide but you have to get into the top of the palm right in the middle as thats were the bugs eat the young fronds thats the tell tail signs when new growth in the center are dropping and falling out

I should know in the next 2 months .....but if the fucker dies I'm not replacing it as they are crazy money to replace a similar size

I use a sump pump and fill a large dustbin with 40 gallons - then pump it straight into the middle

Its big palm and I think about 60 years old, hence being so expensive to replace.....which I won't

yeah the pool is coming along if not a little slow right now due to rain over the last few days, although its stopped now and they are starting again today.....least somethings going right

think I'm on a loosing battle here - put another 40 gallons right into the middle yesterday and also pulled out a load more fronds .....annoying as well if / when it dies you have to get the council out to cut it down and that pissing well costs ......

I have a sego palm which grows about an inch a year that got some bugs and I think I'm going to loose. They don't get big like yours though. Just a nice 4' tall palm.

I bought a sego palm about two years ago, although its not as big as yours Bill and about 2' tall, after a year all the fronds had died so I went back to the garden garden center asking if it was dead - the women told me it will come back......12 mths later I'm only just seeing new fronds that are about an 2" long.........talk about bleeding slow

Back to my palm - gave it another 40 gallons over the weekend.......no sign of recovery, if anything worse as more new fronds have died from the middle ....but early days, I hope
