I just spent all fucking damn day trying to figure out how to configure that damn JW Player on one of my sites!

I could not get any of their code to work. Finally I found a word press plugin for it, but even that was really confusing. I finally figured out how to use the media uploader built in WP, make a play list and use that to embed the player.

It only works with .flv and .mp4, nothing else. But it will be very sweet to make my own custom, unique 30 second teaser clips from videos my sponsor has let me use. I can show teasers nobody else has, I got a nice video editor.

So if your thinking of getting it, get the plugin from WP and use the damn media button to upload your videos for it. Then select the JW player to put in your post. Damn.

The same embed code doesn't always work on all pages, but with the plug in it should be as simple as inserting the short code. MP4 is edging out FLV, but flv still works fine and it's unlikely browsers are going to stop supporting it anytime soon. I use M4V

This is the code I use to embed the jwplayer on my sites, don't have an issue at all.

You have to make sure all of the JW codes/files are in the directory you are calling. I just unzipped it, uploaded it to my root, and that was it.

Then I use the EmbedIt plugin, and simply use the shortcode.

I add the parameters to the custom file links, for the embedtit plugin, and there it is. all done.

With the EmbedIt plugin, I can put mulitiple videos into one post, if I want. Don't, but have and I really prefer to have my videos on one site, and just ftp them in, bit quicker than using the file upload from wp, plus it is easier to track, find, etc. Least for me, given I don't have a penchant for red like some we know

Thanks for the tips. Well it's working fine using the media upload but yeah I also prefer to upload my own videos via FTP into my own key word named folders.

I will try that code you gave Gaystoryman and see if I can do it. Looks like you added your links in the video? Does that mean you made it clickable to go to the tour? I did not know you could do that.

I will play around with it a bit more but not for a few days, it really pissed me off.

Here you go

It can be used to embed more than just a video, such as html code snippets or whatever. I find it very handy to use.

All you do is create a new custome field with the square brackets, label inside HTML1 and then in the values, enter the video embed code that I showed in my earlier post.

Once you've created the first one, the default html1 should appear in your custom field list, you just put a new embed code in the values box to the right. And no, it doesn't change previous renderings in other posts.

To add more than one instance, simly create a new custom field using the square brackets, with html2 and so on for each added instance you want.

Well I use a jump script code but yes, you can use the actual affiliate linking code if you want. I prefer a jump script url, so that it doesn't count as an outgoing link.

The key to the JW is to have the files in the directory you call it from in the first line of code. All of the files, that come with the JW player. Can't remember, but I think there are three or four files,

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this stuff. Gaystoryman, when you use that plugin and use this code:

Can you make as many different ones as you want, or only 9? I plan to have dozens of different videos so I need to be able to go up to say HTML42 and so on. But I thought I saw in the plugin page it only goes up to 9?

Sorry if that's a dumb question but videos are my weak spot.

You can embed only Nine videos PER POST. 42 Videos in one post would be, uh, overkill?

If you have five posts, each with one video in it, then you use HTML1 for them all. Only if you need to add a second video to a post, or more, then you go HTML2, HTML3 etc.

For example, I did a post on Average Joe about a porn soap opers. I used 6 videos in that post. so in the places I wanted to put them, I simply put HTML1 through to 6. In the custom fields, I put the different embed code, for the appropriate tag HTML1 through 6.

In the code I gave you earlier, I have 'autostart' set to off, because who wants to have six different guys groaning at once?

Once you add the html code into the custom fields, it is always there for reuse in other posts. Say you had a post that needed 3 videos, well HTML1 HTML2 HTML3 would be in the list of custom fields, you just put in the appropriate embed code to correspond with the custom field .

Yup I got it now, thanks. Er,,, but,,, if you have html1 set as say "sexy babe video 1" And then you make another one that is html2 that is for "building pools with tigger", then,,,,

That means if I make a new post and want to use the tigger pool video, I use the html2 one, not start out with html1 one,,,, right? In other words, each time you make a custom field code, it's good for any post but you have to use that numbered one for that specific video, right?

Scratch that last question, I understand now. I did everything you said and,,,,, can't get it to work. This is the same problem I had with the normal jw player code, it just does not show up in my post.

Don't know if it's the theme or what. I'll play around with it, thanks for the advice.

Well now I do have the player working using the normal code. I tried to make a custom field with that code but again get nothing. Well, at least I can get the damn player to work using the normal code.

That means I can upload my videos in my own folders and use just one for different sites. Thanks for all your help and trying to teach me all this.
