Hi everyone,

Has any of you encountered problems with a bank asking that you don't do any adult/dating websites? I have.

So I'm shopping around for a new bank - if any of you hard nosed webmasters have a suggestion, please let me know, thanks

I've opened 3 different bank accounts since I've been a webmaster and I've never had a single one ask what sites I build......if they did however I would tell them to mind there own business. If you are not using the bank for any payment processing I really fail to see what concern it is of the banks

I use Barclays

I just went into my local Natwest and told them I was building websites and needed an account to desposit payments - I didn't offer the information on the types of sites and they didn't ask

If all they are offering is banking then I don't see a problem

Just tell them you build cat sites. That's what I do. But then again I really do build cat sites.

Then don't read a joke I posted today.

Oh in fact you can, kitty survived it.

Thanks everyone for answers, if anyone else has recommendations they're welcome, but I'm more and more sure I picked the wrong bank.

I won't but if my cat finds out you're posting jokes at another cats expense, your bank might be getting an anonymous phone call regarding the type of work you do. My cats an evil little bastard.

I don't have any problem with my bank, and they do know, but never asked.

I'd simply look at what bank the cheques you get are drawn from, and see if there is a local branch nearby.

However, If asked, I'd just tell them I do free lance web work. Covera a multitude of sins.

I'm only a part-time porn pimp and the fees are too expensive. I pay a bunch of cheques once a month or six weeks and it only costs me about a HK$60 (£5, US$7.7) for the lot. To have it wired would cost around US$35 per transaction.

And it's no great effort, I walk past the bank everyday anyway.
